Our specialty, Sonic Drilling, sets us apart from our competitors and enables us to deliver world-class results to our clients. With decades of drilling experience and a commitment to safety, reliability, and sustainability, Groundwave is a leader in the industry.

Our extensive fleet of 10 sonic drilling rigs, with drill platforms ranging from 3000kg to 18000kg, make us the largest and most versatile provider in the APAC region. Our rigs can drill to depths of 240m, making us capable of handling both small and large projects.

We approach every task with the belief that it can be done and possess the skills and experience to overcome even the most challenging jobs in the most remote locations. With a history of adapting to changing conditions on the job, our team has a level of expertise that cannot be purchased but must be earned through experience.

Our equipment is state-of-the-art, safe, and well-maintained. We provide the necessary training, systems, and tools to safely complete projects.

Our occupational health and safety system, accredited with PAS99:2012, is supported by real-time software that captures and records data related to accidents, injuries, equipment faults, downtime, and environmental issues. Our incident and hazard reporting and investigation procedures allow us to identify potential safety risks and prevent harm to our staff and clients.

 

As an environmentally conscious organisation, we strive to minimise our impact on surrounding areas. Before starting a project, we conduct environmental impact assessments and devise solutions to reduce negative effects on vegetation, wildlife, and waterways. We comply with all environmental regulations and recognise the importance of protecting the environment for sustained economic growth.

Duncan Black

Managing Director

Duncan Black is the Managing Director of Groundwave Drilling. He has over 30 years of experience in operations, sales, and administration in the mining, construction, and drilling industries. Duncan’s extensive management experience in the Asia Pacific region has allowed him to successfully manage a diverse range of businesses and personnel across a variety of geographical spaces in both developed and developing economies. Duncan holds a Master’s in Business Management, a Diploma in Training and Frontline Management, and a Certificate 4 in Workplace Training, which enhances his ability to provide clear direction for the company.

Natalie Freestone

General Manager

Natalie is a multidisciplinary professional with a wealth of experience and a wide range of qualifications. She has a strong background in the health industry, which is reflected in her exceptional safety record. Natalie is a passionate advocate for the mental health of our team and the drilling industry as a whole, and her unique perspective as a mother and partner of a FIFO worker allows her to empathise with the daily challenges our staff face. With a drive for innovation and problem-solving, Natalie excels at tackling complex and challenging projects, while fostering the growth and development of her team.

 

Paul Griffiths

Technical Services Manager & Director

Paul Griffiths is a highly experienced drilling professional. He brings innovative project management skills honed from his time at Boart Longyear, and is known for his mantra “prior planning prevents poor performance.” He has strong leadership and organisational capacities and successfully led sonic drilling operations in Christchurch, New Zealand for Boart Longyear. Paul holds a Certificate 4 in Drilling, drilling licenses in all states and territories of Australia, a Diploma in Project Management, and a Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety.

Cameron Gosling

Maintenance Manager

Cameron Gosling is the Maintenance Manager at Groundwave Drilling and brings a wealth of experience in managing mobile fleet for drilling services. He has worked with global drilling companies and has extensive experience in remote and offshore areas. Cameron holds a Diploma of Engineering in diesel and is a qualified Chief Mechanic and Hydraulics Mechanic. He also has business management qualifications and understands the importance of maintaining and documenting the fleet maintenance records to support the company’s ISO accreditation.
